1. Is there a right or wrong way to pray? Successful prayers first.

    2 Chronicles 7:14

    14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
    Contrition

    Jeremiah 29:13

    13 You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
    Whole-heartedness

    Mark 11:24

    24 Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.
    Faith

    Intercessor

    James 5:16

2. Do I bow, kneel, on our face or stand? Bowing Examples:

    Genesis 24:26

    26 Then the man bowed low and worshiped the Lord.

      Exodus 4:31

      31 So the people believed; and when they heard that the Lord was concerned about the sons of Israel and that He had seen their affliction, then they bowed low and worshiped.

        Exodus 12:27

        27 you shall say, ‘It is a Passover sacrifice to the Lord who passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt when He smote the Egyptians, but [b]spared our homes.’” And the people bowed low and worshiped.

          Exodus 34:8

          8 Moses made haste to bow low toward the earth and worship.

          2. Do I bow, kneel, on our face or stand? Kneeling Examples:

            Ezra 9:5

            5 But at the evening offering I arose from my [a]humiliation, even with my garment and my robe torn, and I fell on my knees and stretched out my [b]hands to the Lord my God;

              Acts 7:60

              60 Then falling on his knees, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them!” Having said this, he [a]fell asleep.

                Isaiah 45:23

                23 “I have sworn by Myself, The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance.

                    Numbers 20:6

                          Matthew 26:39

                          39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.”

                            22 Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven.

                              Mark 11:25

                              25 Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions.

                                Luke 18:11

                                11 The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

                                3. Should a prayer be long or brief? Long Examples

                                  1 Samuel 15:11

                                  11 “I regret that I have made Saul king, for he has turned back from following Me and has not carried out My commands.” And Samuel was distressed and cried out to the Lord all night.

                                    Luke 6:12

                                    12 It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.

                                      Luke 2:37

                                      37 and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers.

                                      3. Should a prayer be long or brief? Brief Examples

                                        1 Kings 18:36-37

                                        36 At the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet came near and said, “O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, today let it be known that You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant and I have done all these things at Your word. 37 Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that You, O Lord, are God, and that You have turned their heart back again.”

                                          Luke 18:13

                                          13 But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be [a]merciful to me, the sinner!’

                                              Daniel 6:10

                                                Matthew 6:6

                                                6 But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

                                                    Matthew 18:19

                                                    19 “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.

                                                      Acts 1:14

                                                      14 These all with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

                                                        Acts 21:5

                                                        5 When our days there were ended, we left and started on our journey, while they all, with wives and children, escorted us until we were out of the city. After kneeling down on the beach and praying, we said farewell to one another.

                                                        5. How long do we wait for answers to prayer? Promises to Answer Examples:

                                                          Psalms 91:15

                                                          “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.

                                                            Isaiah 58:9

                                                            “Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; You will cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you remove the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness,

                                                              Luke 11:9

                                                              9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

                                                              5. How long do we wait for answers to prayer? Answers Delayed Examples:

                                                                John 11:6, 21

                                                                6 So when He heard that he was sick, He then stayed two days longer in the place where He was. 21 Martha then said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.

                                                                  James 5:7

                                                                  7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains.

                                                                    2 Peter 3:9

                                                                    9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

                                                                    5. How long do we wait for answers to prayer? Answered Examples:

                                                                      Judges 6:30

                                                                      30 Then the men of the city said to Joash, “Bring out your son, that he may die, for he has torn down the altar of Baal, and indeed, he has cut down the Asherah which was beside it.”

                                                                        1 Samuel 1:27

                                                                        27 For this boy I prayed, and the Lord has given me my petition which I asked of Him.

                                                                          1 Kings 18:37

                                                                          37 Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that You, O Lord, are God, and that You have turned their heart back again.”
